Courses & Content

SCORM 1.2 & SCORM 2004 Compatibility
Allows for easy interoperability with all learning content authoring tools and third party course libraries.
xAPI (AKA Tincan) Compatibility
The new xAPI specification allows for more comprehensive tracking of user behavior and online experiences. It also allows for the tracking of activities outside the LMS. Asentia supports both internally launched and externally run xAPI content.
Use of Non-SCORM Course Content (Videos, PPTs, PDFs, and Word Documents)
Lessons can be created directly from your existing non-SCORM content. The system will automatically put a SCORM wrapper around the video, PPT, and PDF files to support learner tracking and reporting.
Course Documents & Reference Materials
Courses managed by the Asentia LMS may include uploaded documents and course materials in all major file formats.
Tasks and Homework Assignments
Lessons may consist of tasks and homework assignments. Learners may download an assignment, complete it and re-upload it for grading. Automated workflow feature notifies the appropriate individuals for grading.
On-the-Job Training (OJT) & Assessments
Lessons may include ad-hoc, one-on-one training events (On-the-Job Training events) or may support performance evaluations. For example, a course may conclude with a lesson where the learner must perform a task and be evaluated by a mentor or instructor. The observer will monitor the learner and complete an online questionnaire rating them on their performance, which becomes part of the learner’s record.
Course Lesson Equivalence
Lessons may be setup so that the learner may choose which mode or version of the lesson they wish to complete. For example, the learner may choose between attending the Instructor-Led Training (ILT) event or taking the equivalent online lesson. Completion of either lesson will satisfy the completion requirement.
Learning Paths for Strategic Development
Learning paths may be created to provide learners with a guided sequence through multiple courses. The learner may enroll/be enrolled in a learning path that includes a series of courses via a single enrollment action. Learning path progress and completion are tracked and reported by the system.
Completion Certificates and CEU Tracking
Customizable certificates may be automatically awarded and delivered to learners when they complete the associated course or learning path.
Management of Instructor Led Training (ILT) Events
Support blended learning by combining Instructor Led Training (ILT) with e-learning courseware. ILT events are managed by scheduling sessions at specific times and locations, along with the instructor(s).
ILT Event Wait List
Learners have the option to be added to a waitlist if the ILT session is at capacity. The system will automatically add them to the session and notify them if/when an opening occurs.
External Resource Management
The key to ILT event success is ensuring all of the supporting resources for the event — such as training rooms and equipment — are properly scheduled, with no conflicts. The system will track your resources and alert you if resource conflicts or availability issues exist.
Course Catalog and Library
Organizations may organize their courses using searchable course catalogs, allowing your learners to browse the course catalogs and self-enroll in courses or learning paths, as well as join online communities. There is no limit on the number of catalogs and sub-catalogs.
Public or Private Course Catalogs
Course catalogs may be set to either public or restricted to specified groups, giving you complete control over who may view and access your catalogs and the courses within them.

Ad-hoc Reporting Capabilities
All system data is available for ad-hoc reporting. The Asentia LMS’ powerful reporting engine allows you to view all data managed by the system in your report, configure multiple data filters, and define the sorting order — giving you the maximum degree of flexibility to create the exact reports you need.

Note: Report data includes all user profile and activity data, including custom fields that you have added for your users.
Saved Reports for Public and Private Access
All reports may be saved for public access, made available to all users in your LMS instance that have access to the reporting feature. Reports may also be saved for your private use only.
Automated Report Subscriptions
Schedule reports to run automatically and have the results emailed to you or other business stakeholders on a specified frequency.
Dashboard Reporting Widgets
Special reporting widgets give administrators and managers fast, one-click access to commonly used reports. Reporting widgets may include graphics and detailed analytics.
Save and Export Report Data
All reports may be viewed immediately in a web browser or exported to a spreadsheet file format (CSV and XLS) for download, review and distribution.
Assign Sophisticated Reporting Permissions
The reporting engine is controlled through the Asentia LMS’ permissions layer. Admins control what data may be viewed and limit what users may be reported on. For example, you may assign a manager to the reporting features but limit access to only course transcripts or progress data only for the learners in a specific group.

Social & Informal Learning Features

User Communities & Groups
Users may join online communities that support specific interests. Community sign-up may also trigger access to documents, automatic enrollment in certain courses; access to specific, restricted catalogs; or even assignment of permissions (roles).
Walls and Feeds for Posting Messages
Groups, communities, and courses may feature an online Wall that allows users to post or respond to questions and comments. This feature drives spontaneous communication in support of informal, peer-to-peer learning and collaboration. Walls may also be moderated, so that a moderator approves all messages before they are displayed on the Wall.
Built-in Messaging Center
The Asentia LMS includes a built-in messaging system that functions identically to web-based email. This feature provides an alternative way to message users that may not have an external email address (or wish to use for learning or training purposes).

Learning Automation

Automatic Course Enrollments
The Asentia LMS’ powerful rule-based system allows you to determine who should be enrolled in a course and how the automated enrollment parameters should be set. This automation feature allows for intelligent, effortless control, ensuring all required courses are properly assigned and tracked.
Automatic Group Access
Like courses, automation rules may be configured to add users to specific user groups, inheriting the access and enrollment attributes of the their assigned groups.
Automated Report Generation
Users may set up reports and configure them to automatically run on specific day and time, repeat on a specific frequency and be delivered to you and/or other business stakeholders.
User Role/Permission Assignment
Rule-based system supports the automatic assignment of roles (system permissions) based on the user’s profile.

Email Notifications

Powerful and Dynamic Email Notifications
All system events may trigger customizable email notifications to be delivered to learners, managers, administrators and instructors.
Customized Notifications
Email notifications may be fully customized and made specific to certain courses, learning paths and groups.

Admin User Management

Configurable User Profiles
Administrators may add custom profile fields and modify all attribute labels for the user profile.
User Batch Import
Administrators may easily import user profile data from CSV or XLS files.
User Activity Batch Import
Administrators may easily import user activity data from CSV or XLS files.
Multi-tenant Portal Configuration
Asentia's multi-tenant architecture enables you to control multiple, partitioned LMS portals via a single, centralized admin control panel, enabling you to deliver separate, dedicated user experiences to multiple audiences via a single LMS subscription.
Scalable Cloud Based Hosting
The Asentia LMS is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) industry-leading cloud hosting infrastructure, offering customers proven AWS stability and performance, along the ability to rapidly scale up the solution for growing audiences.

Integrated Shopping Cart
If enabled, users may browse the course catalog and purchase enrollments in your for-fee courses or learning paths, as well access to for-fee, online communities.
Create and Distribute Discount Codes
Discount codes may be easily created and distributed, allowing you to offer a variety of different promotions to your prospective users. Discount codes may have expiration dates and be limited based on the total number of uses allowed.
Make Public Course Catalog
The course catalog is configurable so that catalogs and sub-catalogs may be set to either public (viewable prior to login) or hidden until after successful login. This allows users to browse your public course catalog prior to registering or logging in to your system.
Apply External Tracking Codes
The tracking code feature enables you to use tools like Google Analytics to track the traffic to different pages within your organization’s Asentia instance.
HTTPS support
All user sessions may be run through 256-bit AES encryption (the same standard used by major online retailers and financial institutions).
Payment Gateways Supported
The shopping cart in Asentia may use either Authorize.net or PayPal Payment Gateways for credit card transaction processing.
